Polished fossil stromatolite. Eucapsiphora leakensis. EUC136 cla 2 billion yearsEUC136 Very rare fossil stromatolite slab polished on one side. Eucapsiphora leakensis. These small branching columnar stromatolites are from the Mount Leake Sandstone, Earaheedy Group, Western Australia. Location is near the town of Meekatharra. Age is Palaeoproterozoic (1. 6 to 2. 5 billion years). The environment they grew in was most probably a sandy tidal flat or braided river channel. Approx. 105 mm x 75 mm x 7 mm thick. 85 grams.
